Today's Project: Glass Etching

I've been in the craft room this week working on a special project for the weekend. My daughter is getting married and has asked me to customize the sand ceremony box with their monogram, names, and the date of the wedding.

Glass etching is pretty simple to do. I used a little Armour Etch (you can find this on Amazon or at Hobby Lobby), a paintbrush, some removable vinyl to use as a stencil, and an electronic cutting machine.

Step 1: Create your cut file and cut vinyl with your electronic cutter. I used the Brother ScanNCut.

Step 2: Weed your vinyl so that the negative remains. In this project, I removed the monogram, their names, and the date.

Step 3: Place the negative on the glass.

Step 4: Apply Armour Etch etching cream to the openings of the vinyl stencil. Be sure to apply a thick layer. Let sit for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5: Rinse the glass with running water. If the glass is not removable like with this project, wipe with a paper towel until the cream is removed.

Step 6: Remove the vinyl stencil and discard. Clean glass with a wet paper towel and water to remove any remaining cream. I followed up with a glass cleaner and a dry paper towel to remove any streaks.
